Baylor Needs Improved PG Play To Maximize Talent Of Jones, Miller

Nov 10, 2011 7:03 PM

Baylor nearly reached the 2010 Final Four while winning 28 games, but took a step backwards in 10-11 with an 18-13 record.

The graduation of Tweety Carter created a hole at point guard that head coach Scott Drew was unable to fill.

Baylor has two lottery talents in Perry Jones and Quincy Miller, but the play of A.J. Walton, Gary Franklin and Pierre Jackson at point guard will go a long ways in determining the team's success.

Baylor had one of college basketball worst turnover rates in 10-11. The guards were largely unable to create high efficiency shots out of pick and roll sets.

Davis, Drummond, Beal Headline Top-10 One-And-Done Candidates

Nov 8, 2011 1:46 PM

The one-and-done college freshman really began in 2007 when high school players were no longer allowed to enter the NBA Draft.

Six freshmen, headlined by Greg Oden and Kevin Durant, were selected in the 2007 Lottery. Seven freshmen were lottery picks in 2008, but the trend has gone the other way in recent years with two in 2009, four in 2011 and four in 2011 if Enes Kanter is counted.

Headlined by Anthony Davis and Andre Drummond, ESPN's Chad Ford highlighted the ten most likely one-and-done candidates in this year's freshman class.

Joining Davis and Drummond are Bradley Beal of Florida, James McAdoo of North Carolina, Quincy Miller of Baylor, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist of Kentucky, Austin Rivers of Duke, Marquis Teague of Kentucky, Myck Kabongo of Texas and Le'Bryan Nash of Oklahoma State.
